Middle Fell

  • Distance: 4.2 miles
  • Difficulty: Easy

This is a fantastic walk especially if you are short on time. Parking on a roadside verge near Greendale Cottages, follow a grassy path which gradually leads uphill. As the path continues it becomes rockier in terrain. Follow the bank of Greendale Gill which leads to Greendale Tarn.

Take the pathway above the tarn, following a sharp right and climbing the ridge towards the top of the fell. It’s a fairly easy walk and you’re rewarded with fantastic views over toward the Scafells. It’s worth stopping for a picnic to take time over the view.

Follow the ridge back to Greendale Gill and then retrace the original path downwards, with fantastic views of Wasdale Screes as you do so.
