Lovely room with great views over the garden. Immaculately clean. Huge bed which was so comfortable. Didn’t hear any of the other guests so really relaxing. Nice toiletries. Breakfast the following morning was great. A fantastic stay.

Having stayed in just about every other hotel in the Borrowdale Valley, we have been staying at the Hazel Bank Country House Hotel twice a year for the past 5 years. Our review is still as positive as it was the first time we stayed here. Gary and Donna are the perfect hosts, rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the views and area are amazing, and the food just gets better and better! Really don’t want to give the hotel too good a review, as we don’t want it booked up when we want to stay here, but can’t fault it!

We cannot speak more highly of this fabulous country house hotel. We were there to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary and it certainly did not disappoint! Our lovely hosts Gary and Donna cannot do enough for their guests and made us feel very special from the moment we arrived. All the rooms are beautifully appointed, immaculately and tastefully furnished. We enjoyed an amazing dinner experience commencing with canapes served in the lounge at 7pm and it just got better and better! There are some fabulous walks from the hotel so you need not move the car. We were very sorry to leave but my waistline needed to recover! Needless to say we have rebooked for July!!

We have just returned from a perfect seven night break here. Gary and Donna are prefect hosts, going the extra mile to make you comfortable. The room was well appointed with stunning views over the fells. The evening dinner was exceptional, some of the best food we’ve had in a hotel and we’ve travelled extensively. The wine list was wide and catered for all tastes. This was our first visit but certainly not our last, next years treat is already booked.

This was our 11th+ visit since 2014 and yet another wonderful week. As usual a warm welcome, comfortable room, good food and as a bonus Gary had organised dry and sunny Lakeland weather. You think that at 5star standards cannot get better but they do. We have already rebooked for May 2020.

What an amazing place, and what a fantastic boutique hotel. The owners have a splendid victorian house here, which they have renovated and are maintaining with a perfect sense of detail. Maybe the best hotel I have ever stayed at in the UK, especially since I attach so much importance to location, natural surroundings, quietness. a gem. congratulations and thanks to Donna, Gary and family.
