An easy, half day, circular walk with fabulous views of the area in any weather. Watendlath is owned by the National Trust and sits between the Borrowdale and Thirlmere valleys at 863 feet above sea level.
From the door turning left at the bottom of the drive and following the Riverside past Stonethwaite Bridge and then, left up through the wooded crag to Dock Tarn (A Lord of the Rings style trod).
From here you take in the views of Dock Tarn before descending to Wathendlath, where you can take in the beauty of the hamlet and take a cuppa at the Tearoom (if open). A steady ascent then down toward Rosthwaite and Hazel Bank. Coming in the fellgate to the rear of the hotel.
